Delizia Casting is seeking submissions from principal performers for an upcoming Low Budget Theatrical Film titled The Pirate King.
- Barb (SUPPORTING): Non-white, female, 40s-50s. A tough but goofy biker and “deck hand” of a pirate reenactment crew. Barb has a treasure trove of pirate-themed jokes and is always ready to have a good time, but she deflects with the kind of skill that only comes from having been through some hard times. Barb is a fiercely loyal friend and deeply committed to her crew, even if they’re not stealing ships together, she knows that what they do, bringing joy and fun to people’s lives, is important.
- Sean (2 SCENES/30 LINES): Any ethnicity, male, 40s-50s. Sean is Todd’s coastal attorney with hedge fund vibes. He has continued to work with Todd despite his late payments because he wants to support veterans, but he’s on the brink of his partners forcing him to leave the case. Sean is frustrated by what he sees as Todd’s self-sabotage and lack of drive.
- Jim Powers (2 SCENES/31 LINES): Any ethnicity, male, 60-70s. Tough and stoic, Jim Powers is a naval father if ever there’s been one. After his son, Jack, a veteran who fought alongside Todd and saved his life, died by suicide, he started volunteering with the organization Stop Soldier Suicide. Jack’s death gave Jim a new purpose, when he sees that Todd is struggling, he offers words of wisdom and new perspective.
- Civil War Jim (3 SCENES/13 LINES): White, male, 50s. Exactly the type of quirky guy who would be a Civil War reenactor, Jim is brash and competitive. When he finds that pirate reenactment may be a more lucrative gig, he and his crew pivot and are shockingly good at it. After learning about Todd’s past, Jim, who lost his father in Vietnam, sympathizes with him, but he can’t give up their feud forever.
- Michael (4 SCENES/7 LINES): Any ethnicity, male, 40s. Tess’ new husband, the Epitome of Southern wealth. Michael is on the board of a software development company responsible for weapons used by the American military. Michael is a good husband and step-father, despite being a bit rude and controlling.
- New Sheila Burns Actor (2 SCENES/4 LINES): Any ethnicity, female, 9 years old. The granddaughter of a pirate reenactor, she replaces Emmylou as the role of the Captain’s daughter in a show.
